True Warriors

WAR… what is it good for, absolutely nothing- say it again!
War is pain and war is hell. No one likes it, but on some level, we all experience it. Some wars are literal wars between countries, some are between business rivals, others between sport teams and families. The worst type of war is the battle that is fought within the self. That being said, we all our warriors to some extent. The wuestions is: what type of warrior are you?

In Japanese culture, Warriors lived by a code called “Bushido.” This is the honor code they lived by that promoted all warriors to earn and maintain honor until death. Warriors were not dumb brutes, but sages that tempered mercy with justice. Warriors were known to become experts at their craft. Warriors believed in loyalty. The life of a warrior was the ultimate paradox, because it was gentle yet brutal; intelligent and savage at the same time.

Warriors come in all fashions. They came from Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Warriors were men, women, and children. When we think of warriors, we may think of the Atilla and his Huns, the Vikings, Alexander the Great, Boudicca, Joan of Arc, Genghis Kahn, George Washington, Shaka Zulu. But, how many people think of individuals like Jesus, Gandhi, MLK Jr., Mother Theresa, or Cesar Chazez?

Warriors come in dfferent packages and wage war against people and societal wrongs. Warriors can fight without ever using a weapon. In fact, it was said that the highest form of honor is for a warrior to drop his (or her) sword. This selfless act is when one is willing to surrender his or her life for a cause greater than themself.

Bottom Line: There is no greater war we fight than the battle within. There is no greater enemy to conquer than the enemy within. Pick your battle, know when to swing your sword and know when it is ime to lay it down.
