Who do you want to win
An American Indian elder described his own inner struggles this way: “Inside of me there two dogs. One of the dogs is mean and evil. The other dog is good. The mean dog fights the good dog all the time.” When asked which dog wins, he reflected for a moment and replied, “The one I feed the most.”
The axiom is true, ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS! We all have a good side and a bad side. Who do you want to win? Look at your actions to decide which side is winning. I chuckle when I hear people say terms like “Don’t make me go Postal” or “don’t make me get ghetto on you.” Coversely, I smile when I hear people say “You lucky I am Christian” or “I’m not gone even go there with you.” When we do these mini self-talks we are either pouring gasoline or water on this fire. Truth is, we know how to hype ourselves up or de-escalate the situation.
It was Elizabeth Kinney who said, “He who angers you controls you.” We have to realize that anger is not the only emotion that can be manipulated. And, we have to remember that no one can make us mad. Yes, people can try to provoke and manipulate you, but they only succeed when we submit to their will. Without a doubt, it is clearly you who in the end decides on how you react to these situations. So, it is YOU who controls you. The question is, is it the good you or the bad you that makes the decision?
Bottom Line: There are two sides to everyone; we can be good or we can be bad. The determinng factor is you (the individual). Who do you want to win? Choose carefully, some of these decisions can have life long consequences. Receive this message with the love that it was written with, beloved.
