Asque the BLAQUESMITH: I’m gon do me

I cannot give you the formula for success, but I can give you the formula for failue, which is TRY TO PLEASE EVERYBODY. –Herbert B. Swope

Dr. Festus Obiakor has recently written a book 100 Multicultural Proverbs. He states
“It is important for someone to be principled and disciplined in decision making. In education and in life, people make tough decisions that are sometimes unpopular. Good leaders are frequently respected for their ability to move the system or organization forward, even when their decisions are not popular. This does not, however, mean that great leadership must be ruthless and careless. It means people must do what is right, even when it is unpopular, as long as the society will beadvanced by their actions.”

Bottom Line: In your attempt to be a leader, remember it is more important to be respected than liked. This is an awesome responsibility. One must have elephant skin to be in this position because it is not for the timid and weak. Have the confidence to believe in yourself and keep your head when all others doubt you, but be level headed enough to make allowances for their doubting too.

Inspirational proverbs will be the theme of the show on Saturday and we will air live on MATA Channel 14 in Milwaukee at 11:30 am. Asque the BLAQUESMITH is co-hosted by Alisia Moutry and will feature Dr. Festus E. Obiakor. This show will be Fried Chicken, Collard Greens, Mac and Cheese and Peach Cobbler for your Soul!

  1. You’re right, I need to stop trying to please everybody.
